Charles Oberholzer

Charles Oberholzer Art 102b

CHARLES OBERHOLZER – Charles Oberholzer is one of eight students from internationally acclaimed artist, Stefan Rossouw’s Pretoria Studio, who exhibited his paintings at Pretoria Kunskamer from 04 November till 18 November 2017.

Since taking art tutoring in the style and technique of the Old Masters, Charles has painted a number of works of people and flora. He loves painting draping cloth, as can be seen in the painting, “Still Life with Roses”.

NICK PAPASTEFANOU – As a graphic designer, photographer and painter, Nic has for the past 40 years, run a design and advertising studio, specializing in graphic design, exhibition design and photography.

So inspired was he after a visit to Greece and Cyprus (birthplace of his parents) that he started painting, hoping to capture a little of the magic that he had experienced on canvas.

ANTOINETTE DUMON (1958) – Antoinette commenced with her art studies 8 years ago. The artwork of Lord Leighton and Bouguereau inspired her to study the Old Masters of the classic era and their art techniques.

Oil has remained her medium of preference. She has since ventured to do a variety of still lifes and scenic city paintings. She aims to communicate through art and resonate a slice of life with a spiritual meaning.

ROBBIN TOY (1956) – My love for art began at a very young age. Most of my time was spent painting in water colour, until I discovered oil paint. I’m now learning the techniques that the old masters used.

I feel humbled as to how far I have come and how much I still have to learn, as they have spent years and years perfecting their skill. Under the guidance of Stefan Rossouw, I am slowly learning the techniques that was used by them.

JOLANTE HESSE – Jolante Hesse is one of eight students from internationally acclaimed artist, Stefan Rossouw’s Pretoria Studio, who exhibited her paintings at Pretoria Kunskamer from 04 November till 18 November 2017.

In line with her personality, she seeks technical proficiency before artistic expression. This enables her to create a foundation that she can build on.

Dave Viljoen

DAVE VILJOEN (1953) – Apart from a general interest in all forms of art, and a lot of photography, Dave had no formal art training.

In 2010 Dave received a birthday gift from his partner which included “One month’s oil painting classes with Stefan Rossouw, a blank board and palette, 3 brushes, a print of an Old Master (Caravaggio’s Fruit Basket) and a “If I like it, I can continue on my own, otherwise drop it” instruction!”
