Fabrizio Caforio (Fuz)

FABRIZIO CAFORIO – “Fuz” as he prefers to be called, has devoted three decades of his career to wildlife art. The exquisite detail and life-like quality of his paintings comes from painstaking research. Much time is spent in the bush and at breeding research stations collecting all the necessary reference material. He has refined his skill and technique over the years to a point where fur patterns and textures are vividly and authentically reproduced on canvas.
Fuz has a special affinity for the African Leopard. This “Prince of Predators” has been his muse and constant source of inspiration over many years and is a subject he returns to time after time.
His works are sought after by corporate and private collectors from all over the world.
SUPPORT FOR CONSERVATION
Through his work, Fuz has helped to raise funds for many non-governmental conservation organisations. These include: The WWF, The Endangered Wildlife Trust, The Honorary Rangers of South Africa, Birdlife South Africa, DeWildt Cheetah Research, Dr. Jane Goodall, The Endangered Species Protection Unit, the Born Free Foundation Shamwari Game Reserve, The Wildlife College, The Brookfield Zoo of Chicago USA, The Japan Wildlife Center, The Wildlife Center Frenchtown, New Jersey USA, The Cape Leopard Trust, Painted Dog Conservation INC. Australia and the Nedbank Green Trust.
AWARDS
Wildscape Magazine Wildlife artist of the year. EWT Cheetah Award. The Wildlife Art Society UK- Silver and bronze medals. First place (Miniatures) at the Florida Wildlife Expo. Birdlife SA Eagle Award.
Fuz Caforio has been involved with De Wildt since 1993 and has been a wonderful and loyal supporter and friend. His art, more than any other artist I know, captures the spirit of the animals he paints. His cheetah works speak of the trust, vulnerability and beauty of this charismatic cat. Fuz paints what I feel in my heart – love and admiration for the animal.
